Mochi: A Window into the World of Wagashi
Sunday 15th Jan 2023
2pm - 5pm
Taguchi Ya Canteen
Ticklemore Street
Totnes, TQ9 5HW
Workshop Details:
Many people in the UK are now familiar with Mochi. It was the first Japanese sweet I tried that introduced me to new textures, flavours, and ingredients that I never knew could be made into sweets. For this reason, Mochi is a great introduction to the huge world of Wagashi (Japanese Sweets).
In this workshop we will make a variety of Fresh Fruit Daifuku Mochi. This is a great sweet to introduce you to working with glutinous rice flour and bean paste, to make sweets that also showcase the best seasonal fruits.
You will walk away knowing how to make the iconic sweet rice dough, and how to fill them with sweet bean paste and fruits.
After we have finished making, we will also get a chance to sit together and enjoy our creations with a paired green tea.
You will also receive some ingredients to take away with you, so you can make them at home.
Look forward to seeing you at the workshop!
Claudia.
